How To Tell Female & Male Barbs Apart?

For years and years I have had platies and guppies in my fish tank. Recently I bought 3 long finned Rosy Barbs. I think I will go back to the pet store and buy a couple more. These little guys are facinating.
Now, how do you tell the females and males apart? I've never had Barbs before.

Males are slimmer, more brightly coloured and redder; females are plumper, duller and more yellow.
