I got a pair of bettas in a 10 gallon tank, recently I bought 10 cherry shrimp to deal with the algae, while I was acclimating the shrimps I noticed that my male betta is acting aggressively towards the shrimps, so I just put 1 shrimp to see their reaction, but after 20 minutes i just saw a betta with a shrimp in its mouth..

Welcome! Some problems here...1) You can’t keep 2 bettas in a 10G tank. Any tank for that matter. Two males will end up with one killing the other. 2) A male will end up killing a female too. Please separate them now! Most bettas will eat shrimp.

Agree. And 2 females need a bigger tank than 10 gallon

I had an ember tetra pick off a shrimp fry today that was added to my tank and those are about as shrimp proof fish you can get. I added the rest of the shrimp straight to some moss while I fed the tetras on the other side of the tank. If it can fit it in its mouth, said fish will potentially eat the shrimp

The best way to keep betta from eating shrimp is by keeping the betta and shrimp in separate tanks.
The best way from keeping cookie monster from eating cookies is by not giving him cookies;)

You can try adding Amano shrimps with your Betta. For me, I personally never had too much issues mixing the two together, but then again, it really depends on how aggressive/passive your Betta is. Amano shrimps will eat algae on your aquarium.

The aquarium could be divided.

Totally forgot about that option lol

I put the shrimps in a different container after the Incident, but about the bettas being together,I had them both for a while now and I never seen them had a problem, maybe because they're wild bettas or is it still not a good idea to put them together?
