How To Sink A Veggie

what's the best way to sink a cucumber? I don't really want to boil them, but they keep floating away and i don't think my pleco will venture to the top. i've tried lodging it under some driftwood, but the other fish dislodge it and it floats away. i've heard people mention veggie clips. any simple home made ideas?

Anything non toxic, waterproof and liable to sink....
I now use an old heater clip and stick the veg next to the glass with it, 2 plecos, 2 clips.... Is there no edges or gaps on the wood so you can just force the veg onto it so it doesn't move? A stone/rock, pisece of tank decor... Err, there must be something you can use!
If the stone/rock/decor covers too much of the veg then cut it lengthways in order to get a bigger piece...

I often use a plastic clip (I have used plastic clothes pins, etc) with a length of something to tie so I can pull it out easily. I tie together plastic bag ties until I get the length I want. lol But I do nuke them when I have frozen them. Also a day or so after they defrost they will sink. I just really can't use a whole zucchini in a day or two, so I cut them up and freeze them, defrosting a few at a time--that thanks to the guy below me!

I have one of the priming pumps from a Fluval external filter (basically a plastic stick with a suction cup attached) which I shove thru the cucumber and stick to the tankside..seems to work well (maximum pressure survived was 2 adult bristlenoses and 3 clown loaches on a 1 inch piece of cucumber!!)

Wooden kebab skewers stuck thru the cucumber and into the ground under a decoration work too though the veg slides off when it's almost eaten.

I find the weights on aquarian plants work well to weight pleco foods. Push the weight into the food, at the point that you whish to be on the bottom, and drop into the tank. Ususly onlu needs one weight, but large pieces may need two.

i use this product that is really working fine it is stainless steel and it has not sharp edges!
