Good day guys,

I had a beautiful colt coral but now it become a giant in my tank

this is an old picture I have, coral on the right size of the rocks

1.JPG

now its up to the top of the tank and I cut a couple of pieces to grow small once
but the parent looks really ugly but healthy. I want to completely remove it.
Can I just use scalpel and cut it at the very bottom? or maybe some other ways?

Thanks for an advice

If it's attached to a small piece of LR, could you not just remove it with the said piece of coral and take it to the LFS? You could then get a part-exchange or credit for a replacement coral that is less invasive mebe, or just get plain LR and/or fish with the exchange/credit :good: If it's on a larger rock, I'd await further instruction from someone that knows how to frag it properly  (I don't)

All the best

No, he attached to the main base rock, by removing the rock I can destroy everything. Also I have already cut a couple of pieces and growing more of them for future, dont think LFS will like that coral now, does not look that good.

Break out the scalpel, cut it off, save a few small frags for yourself, sell/trade in the big colony to your LFS :)
