Hi! We bought a used tank yesterday and it cake with two glass tops whose hinges have been removed. We were given both pieces of both glass tops, as well as the two hinges. Picture below. Can I apply silicone to re attach them? How long do I need to let this dry before moving them and putting them on the tank?

Ok I just realized it can wedge back into place! Do I need to silicone these back into place for security?

Not if it is a tight interference fit. My hinges broke years ago, so I just slide them now.
Just one of the glass panels is loose, so that when you pick it up it slides out. I think I will just leave them, since it is the back panel and I’m the only one who will be moving it. Thank you!

I don't silicone mine, eventually the plastic hinge will fail, and you'll need to replace it. You can find all the standard sizes on Amazon.

Well I have the hinge, they just pulled it off. It’s in great condition, there is just that one loose glass panel

Won't hurt to silicone it, I had to do that with one of my glass lids

Use aquarium silicone, and let it cure for 24H before using on a tank with fish

I used plastic packing tape when I made a temporary one out of plastic. The plastic tape hinge worked better than the plastic pieces that were the lid because it was thin and warped. By that time I received my glass lid
