hi,

I bought this plant about 2 months ago already attached to a small piece of bogwood, it has recently become detached and i have no idea how to reattach it, it is so delicate i don't want to break it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can attach it and what kind of plant it is?

I've attached some piccies.

Thanks!! 10092007120.jpg10092007123.jpg

I don't think it's attached to bogwood - looks like a nymphaea stellata to me which has become detached from it's bulb (the 'bogwood')

A clearer picture of the leaf shapes would help.

I'm afraid that I don't know if it will come back - you could try though!

hi,

Thanks for replying. I've tried to take a better picture of the leaf.

On the 'bogwood' i can see some of the stem from the plant so you can see where it was attached, so it makes sense that the 'bogwood' could be the bulb. If it is the bulb then I'm assuming that the plant is dead, but it's been detached for about 2 weeks and there have been new leaves growing

If it is a bulb can i just stick it in some soil and wait for the plant to regrow, then put it back into the aquarium once it has?

That is definitely a Nymphea plant. And the 'bogwood' is the bulb. If you're lucky the leaves may start growing back, and they must probably will. Plant it halfin-half-out of the substrate (that is what I was told anyway).

Thanks for your help!! My substrate is just gravel though, I'll give it a shot. If it doesn't grow i'll do a little more research and see what i can find and post back my results on here.

is it just me or does it look like its dieng?

Are you talking about the plant? I'm assuming that if it's detached from the bulb then it will be dying. Just gonna chuck the plant and see what happens with the bulb. thanks again for everyones help.
