How To Get Him To Stop?

Hi my Dad has a problem, Im 11 and he is 35. We got a 5 gallon tank and i told him we needed to cycle it but he said i was lying, so now we have 5 white clouds mountain minnows but last night 1 died so my dad got another one. They are about 2cm big each. Now every week he wants to get 5 more. I told him that they can grow bigger but he said they wont grow any bigger then that i told him that he was wrong and he got angry at me. How do i make him stop buying so many? He said he wanted to buy 40 for that tank.

Please help me as i hate seeing fish or any animal die and i dont want to see fish dye one after another.

(Their estimates for max size for WCMM's is rare in aquariums, mine at least never grow more than 2-2.5inches long, but its still a good size for a shoaling fish).

They shouldn't be kept in anything less than an 18x12x12inch tank/10gallon (although ideally the bigger the better), i wouldn't keep anymore than 6WCMM's in such a tank.

If your dad puts 40 of them in a 5gal, not only will he be causing them a lot of stress and suffering, but he'll certainly be wasting his money as a great percentage of those 40 WCMM's will certainly die. Not only that, but the crampt and overcrowded conditions will supress the WCMM's natural behavior and their colours will fade from the stress, they will become very boring and inactive fish if her doesn't give them the right conditions they needs to thrive their best in etc .

Could you get your mom/aunt/grandmother/dads significant other [delete as applicable] to take a look at this website/thread and the link in it, making sure she understands it? In my experience there's nothing like a woman nagging to get things done...

OR when he next goes to buy fish - go with him and say to the people at the fish shop (in front of your dad) that you've got a 5 gal and ask how many of the fish will fit in there. maybe when they tell you a much smaller amount than 40 he'll listen??
