Hey, i recently bought a small Pleco just short of 2 inches long.

I want to know how to feed him in the best possible way. I have some vege discs, they are quite small.

My dilemma is he will not eat them straight away unlike my other fish eat theres, but then the pack recomends i take uneaten food out after 5 minutes. What should i do?

Thanks James

What species is he/she?, various plecs require very different things in relation to diet.

I honestly could not tell you, but i will upload a picture of him very very soon.

Have you tried courgette (weighed down with a rock and rubber band arrangement)? Ditto above: most plecos are herbivores, but there are a few carnivores. Also good pleco tablets will not disintegrate after 5 min and a balanced tank should be able to support having them left in there for a few hours.

Thats interesting.

Yes the tablets automatically go to the bottom. & they also don't disintigrate. So its all good, i just need to know wether my tank can support them being left there.

Feed your fish as normal, but for the plec turn off the lights at night, drop in the discs. You will find he will most likely come out and feed then. You need to give them longer than 5 mins though they tend to take a while to find them sometimes. I drop feed in for mine at lights out and leave it, its always gone in the morning.

Okay thanks Star, i'll give it a try tonight.

Unless your pleco is diurnal, of course :)

5 mins? my coryys take like 10 mins to find it, and like 30 to eat em'

First time I tried to feed my pleco, took him/her like an hour too realize that a zucchini is food. After my pleco figured it out it was eating it for like 20 mins, leave, then come back later for more, I remove it an hour after it starts eating it.
I use veggie clip, attaches to the glass.

Please note: disintegration time, not feeding time! In my experience, pellets will either disintegrate within the first 5 minutes (cheap, unsuitable) or not for at least half an hour (most).

Sorted now, i just drop a couple of discs to the bottom before i go to bed & when i wake up they are gone. Thanks Star & everyone for there input.
