Hi friends, Betta and Cherry Barbs have different food requirements. When kept together in a Community tank, how do you fulfill their different food needs? After all you have to feed both the same food. Thanks & Bye

I have sorta the same question. I might get a bigger tank, but I was wondering, if you put two different fish together, how do you feed each of them their own foods?
What if one eats the wrong kind and might get sick?
I'm sorry that this isn't answering your question, but I was wondering as well.

You may find, like we did, that bettas can be very fussy about what they eat, and will not touch food such as flake when it is put in for other fish. Our first betta Floyd wouldn't eat anything but fresh bloodworm, so we had no problems, he just ignored all other food until his was put in. Your cherry barbs will probably eat anything given to them and wont get sick by eating food meant for the betta. Likewise, if the betta is not fussy, it shouldn't have any effect on him either.

Most fish won't actually get ill from eating other fish's food. There are exceptions, fish that are so specialised that it will be difficult to keep them with other fish with different requirements- for instance certain plecs and certain African cichlids shouldn't be kept with carnivores- but these are really exceptions.

Thanks buddies. Bettas have their own specialty foods while Cherry Barb have their own. So, which one does one choose?

The Betta speciality foods are often standard compositions in smaller packages. Tetra Prima granules are great for Bettas & most community fish.
