I jumped the gun again. I should probably have consulted this forum before I dealt with it, just like I should have read up on how to cycle a tank. 2 orandas died because I didnt know what cycling was :(. (but i've learned and im gunna try again)

They died while I was still treating them for ich/anchor worm/bloody scales stuff presumably as a result of the non-cycled water.

for some reason the golden algae eater that was in there the whole time didn't get touched at all by the ich or anything else. tough guy.

that was just background info ... the tank was most likely contaminated. I cleaned up the gravel, the tank and the artificial plants up with a 10% bleach/90% solution. then I rinsed it off with tap water ... presently it's drying

that okay? or did i overdo it ... what do you guys do with your quarentine tanks?

I'm guessing you have your remaining fish (the algae eater?) in a different tank for now. Correct?

If you used the bleach solution inside your tank, and on the gravel, I personally wouldn't trust a tap water rinse to get rid of the chlorine.

If you don't have a chlorine test (most of us don't, I'm guessing), then I would suggest re-rinsing the tank, gravel, and decorations in some water that has a triple dose of dechlorinator in it. Then rinse it again in regular dechlorinated water.

If you do that, and still smell even a trace of chlorine (bleach) in the tank, I'd repeat the process.
