Maybe you wont like this, but this is what I did. I did not have a siphon handy to clean out my tank, so i got creative! For this u need a HOB filter that has a tube sucking up the water etc. Well take the tube (tube size depending on how big the tube on the filter is) and put it over the filter tube. The filter will suck the water through the tube and u can manuever the tube to where the poo or anything else tha needs to be siphoned! thats it! i dont see anything bad about this except the filter media might need to be changed sooner.

Our magnum 350 filters came with a piece to make the siphon hose easily attachable to the filter intake tube to vaccuum in that manner. Comes in handy with the messy pleco and oscars...hubby can suck up the yuck a couple of times a week and then change water in between.

I have been using a Hot Magnum as a tank vac for over 5 years. I have 15 tanks and do not own a Python. the Hot provides more than enough suction, but not too much. It is especially usefull for vacuuming planted tanks, esp where you have fine leaved plants that trap debris. You can vac the plants without pulling them out of the substrate.

Tried that, didn't work. The suction wasn't strong enough, it seems. I ended up cracking the intake tube as well (well, that one was due to my stupidity haha). I guess it will work if you have a strong HOB filter, I had one rated for 10-15 gallons, so... :dunno:

lol sorry :[
