I have 2 tanks and one has ich. I want to do a water change on the other one without spreading ich. How would I make sure that the syphon is clean?

Personally I'd buy another one so I could be sure of no contamination. Failing that I'd run hot water through the siphon then leave it to dry and give 24/48 hours before using it on the other other tank.

I agree with @Sylvan, I have just purchase another siphon so each of my tanks has it's own to reduce the chances of spreading anything. But as I understand it ich dies after 3-4 days without a host. So if you let the siphon sit that time and rinse it out it should be alright.

I disinfect mine all the time. Place a little chlorine bleach in the sink (1/4 cup) and fill with very warm water. I first soak the entire thing in the water for a few minutes. Then allow it to run through the hose as you symphonic the water out of the sink. Next, fill the sink with clean water and add some Seachem Prime at double regular dose. Allow this to run through hose. I then just rinse with plain water real well.

I clean algae out of the tubes by stuffing a paper towel wad in the faucet end and then attach to faucet and turn on the tap all the ways..the wad passes through the tube and takes the gunk with it...repeat as necessary. You need to have a strong flow of water though.

I agree. There are many different methods to "Clean" a syphon, but none are 100% effective. I would just buy another one. ;)

Ok thanks. This sounds like the best option for me

If you want new tubing, you can buy a large roll of the 5/8 inch tubing at home depot and just cut to length you need. Then unscrew connections on python and install new tubing. Use a hairdryer to warm up ends of tubing to make installation go easier.
