okay i've got a male and 3 females on order and i want to breed them. can some one who has done it before tell me?

yeah wow.....all i can say its a VERY difficult and tedious process! and not somthing I can explain in one post! but to get you started I would select a pair (male and female) and begin conditioning them. Ie feeding them at least twice a day with live brine spring and bloodworms would be a good start!

thanks james. i know you couldn't put it all on one reply. lol i have a male ready but my females i ordered aren't in yet -.- so i will have to wait to see what colors they are before i deside which one i what to breed with. i'm going to be waiting a few weeks i just want to gather info so i can go in this knowing what i'm doing. ^^

and PLEASE remember. over the first 3 months or so you need to find new homes for possibly up to 100 fish! try your local fish stores and friends and family and see how many you can rehome.

i know this too. i thought they didn't have that main the first time...or that the male takes care of the sickly ones..(yes i know this sounds mean but i can't sell sick fishys to anyone and i feel bad for doing so. but the male is supposted to take care of the young'ens for the first few weeks yes?) and i already sell fish (my breeding platys*which they breed like crazy when i let them lol)

oh! from what i read in that artical (thanks for it btw) some people like to use java moss and snails.....what do ya'll think about that?

It's a relatively common misconception that breeding bettas is hugely time consuming and/or really difficult. I breed bettas and I work 70 to 90 hours per week at my job. It can definitely be done. My signature has a link to a site I have setup about breeding bettas if you're interested.
