Hi All,

I was looking at my 20g tank last night and noticed the R.rotundifolia was doing this...

I've not changed the light from my 2x18w Arcadia freshwater (tank is 24USg = 1.5WPG), but I have added CO2 and Im dose some ferts and trace more often now. I have resigned myself to doing EI with this tank anyway just to be sure the ferts levels are kept right, not that I really want to but Ive come to the conclusion its probably the only way.

How is it possible to have pearling like this (albeit at the very end of the light period) at only 1.5WPG!! I can only assume that there is so much plant mass that the O2 produced saturates the tank by the end of the photoperiod which causes the pearling. It was the last thing I expected in this tank!! The other plants pearl as well but not nearly as much.

Great stuff!

I notices some of my plants on my 180 pearling after adding CO2. It was great to finally have it happening! Doesn't happen too much though, as I've tuned it down a bit as I'm warey at the moment.

Cheers, what surprised me the most was just how much they've done it. A few bubbles I could understand, thats that a bit OTT! Aint seeing plants pearling satisfying? ;)

Hi Sam, my co2 runs at 1 bps and it pearls like crazy the surface is covered in tiny bubbles and every thing looks great in my tank at the moment, regards john ps (new pics in my journal sam )

1.5wpg is still a reasonable amount though - I wonder aswell if the time taken for the plants to adjust and grow well in your tank is the reason why pearling has only just started? Maybe the plants have only now sorted themselves out to grow with what they have available?
