I mean really, my Flame is in a planted tank, and when I go in to vacuum he follows the siphon around, sticking his nose down by the opening, so that I have to move it out of the way, or he is always swimming around it, so that I have to make sure I don't bump him.
When I put my hands in to clean or to prune plants, he follows my hand, biting me, or just sticking his nose right where my fingers are. He is such a nosy beggar!
I find it terribly amusing, but my oh my, you have to be so careful when you are cleaning a betta tank! :fun:

Ha I just read "betta got trapped in a siphon" in tropical chit chat. and isn't that exactly what I was saying. Frankly I am amazed there aren't more accidents!

I know what you mean. My one betta is so curious he just swims into my net. I don't even have to try to catch him

mines afraid of everything, i cant ever catch him so i usually have to dump him in the tank, its like from an inch above the tank though.

Try syphoning a tank with 70+ nosey little bettas hanging around  After that, one betta seems like a breeze

I'd like to try that, once perhaps, it would be very interesting!

That is so adorable that it's priceless! If you want the easy way - keep him in an empty tank with maybe a couple of weighed-down silk plants.

Thanks Itty, I have two in tanks like you described, and they don't get to bite me as often, as I only occasionally have to wipe algae off the insides of the tank.
I wouldn't move Flame out of his planted tank, he loves it. He likes to hide in the plants, he hides in the cave, he rests on the leaves of the plants. He is so dog-gone cute, I just love him (and the other two!).
