How Strong Is Your Filter?

If you put ur hand next to ur filter inlet ( Im talking about a canister filter by the way) can you actually feel the suction?

I put my hand next to mine today and the fact i couldnt really feel suction worried me, but then again the outlet seems to be moving pretty quick.

The majority of canister filters are gravity fed I believe so the suction wouldn't be that strong I would imagine, although I can't say I've ever grabbed hold of mine

I put my finger by my DIY canister filter's inlet and it sucked up my finger

my EX1200 pulls my finger in when the strainers off and i wont tell u what the FX5 does lol

the vacume is strong enough to suck up fish if the guard is displaced. they may be gravity fed, though i am far from sure of that, but the water is pumped out with an electric pump. the speed the water comes in, is dictated by the speed it is expelled. the suction is considrable. if no.t perhaps it may be time to give the system a good clean.
