How Soon

Thanks. The reason I ask Is because iv tried breeding for the first time. The male had built his nest and done the business with the female. I took her out and left him over night picking up the eggs that had fallen from the nest. By morning though the eggs where all on the floor and the bubble nest had disappeared. Any tips or advice for next time

A plastic plant. Il try the cup in a couple months and see how I come on. Thanks for the help

Make sure you drop the water level low in that tank. (Don't forget to tilt the heater to keep it submerged.) That poor boy must repeatedly swim from the bottom to his nest with a mouth full of the developing eggs. Give him a break and keep the distance short. Also keep some source of light for him to use overnight. It need not be bright but you can't expect him to work in total darkness.

Thanks for the help, I had maybe 7 inch of water in the tank, is that too much

A typical recommendation is no more than 6 inches but I bet he could not measure the water depth.

I had to lower mine to 4" for them to successfully breed.
