How should I prevent algae and cyano in a new tank setup?

So as most on here probably know, I'm getting a 40g tank set up soon. I want to be fully prepared for anything...
I'm going to be having two filters running on this. One will be a completely new Aquaclear 50 and the second one will be my used Aquaclear 30. Now I have had and STILL have an issue with cyano (pretty sure its cause my tank isn't planted much).
Should I worry about the used filter and filter media infecting my new tank I'll be setting up with cyano?? I really really don't want that to happen lol.

Hello Rocky. Apparently, there's a water chemistry issue. There are excess nutrients in the water. Lots of water changes will help. Work up to the point you're changing half the tank water every week. You can also add some floating plants and reduce the amount you're feeding.

Cyano does travel. It pops up in well maintained tanks, but loves poorly planted set ups. They provide it with everything it needs.
You can try to stop the spread, but it gets on your hands, and probably has airborne spores. I've never checked the latter idea.
I get it here if I have wisteria as a plant - i assume that quick grower affects the water chemistry by depleting minerals that keep cyano check.

I already change 50%+ of the water in my 10g per week. It's mainly the 40g I'm concerned about once I get it set up...
I'll be adding tons of plants to the new tank.

Yah, that's what I was afraid of, the cyano traveling to the new tank via the filter.
I will have a lid so maybe that'll help with airborne spores...
I want to have pothos growing out of the tank to help with nitrates and then I'll also have fast growers in the tank. One of them being water sprite used as a floater

when it comes to planted tanks algae 99% of the time is always related to flow/light intensity/excess nutrients....
do a 2x turnover on your filtration / use a light with a dimmer...and use root tabs instead of liquid ferts
also water changes replenishes nutrients....
my tanks for eg runs the light automatically from 4am to 2pm and then whatever light from the room being illuminated...its not directly under any sunlight ever
algae has no roots...so root tabs feed algae a lot less than liquid ferts...only whatever escapes from fish turning the substrate

Yah... I'll have root tabs in the 40g as well as a nicrew classic LED (after sometime of having the tank up and running).
There is a window that points directly at the tank, but not much sunlight comes through it and the blinds are mainly closed... Sometimes my mom opens them though.
