How quickly do I need to get fish into the tank

How quickly do I need to get new fish into the tank? from buying them which is about 40 minutes drive away (traffic of london!) !! is that a problem say 4 Danios in a bag?? any ideas or hints

Your new fish should be fine for 40 mins in a bag.....(.make sure that the bag has lots of air in it.)

i have had fish for over an hour in a bag. just make sure you say that the fish will be in the bag for a while and they will add more air for you.

the lfs should pack the fish so it's something like 1/4 water to 3/4 air. keep them in an opaque bag for the journey cos they'll be calmer in the dark. if you're on your own you might wanna take a bucket or summat to stand them in so they dont fall over, if theres someone with you they can hold them for you...have fun buying your fish
