An old creek that I grew up around (and in) was teeming with wild crawfish and salamanders. I used to collect them as a kid and put them in my aquariums. Unfortunately, most of my fish died, and they'd eat the remains before I even knew what happened. Hey, I was a kid...

But now I got some from someone that still lives in that area (I've long since moved away) and was wondering how popular they are. I don't see any berries yet, but with five of them, I wouldn't be surprised if I saw some soon. Are they worth breeding though? Is there any interest in native crawfish?

As far as I'm concerned they are very popular. They were one of the first things I kept as a child. The modern interest is really in the more colorful crayfish. Your standard creek "crawdads" are mostly eaten and a few people enjoy keeping them. They aren't something I think you would make money breeding but for pure hobby related enjoyment I recommend them.

If you have a big tank a Marron would be nice,

PS they also taste great.

Seafood disgusts me. The first time I ate a clam I threw up all over the floor of the seafood restaraunt into my aunts lap too. Will never eat fish or crustaceans again.

Agreed! I'll eat just about anything dead from the sea. I just did a trip to San Francisco and loved eating food that had just been pulled out of the bay. If you can't get fresh seafood then I say don't eat it, it's not the same. But if you can, yum!
