Hi,

I was just wondering how old most peoples rabbits get. I have read 15-20 years is not unthinkable. My rabbit is going to be 11 in the spring. Isn't that pretty old for a rabbit? Oh, I wish I could post picktures of her, she is sooooooo cute! She is colored like a siamies cat (gray tips and a white body), and she has pink eyes (thus the name Rosie). Do smaller breeds live longer than bigger ones? Mine is a Dwarf Netherland. That is the very smallest breed.

they are only supposed to live for 8 years....but my rabbit is almost 10 now and ive read of people whose rabbits have reached 15.

Guppy Fan, it soounds like you have a himalayan, not a netherland dwarf. Himmies are only 3-4 pounds max, so about the same size as a Netherland dwarf. I thought my girl was a dwarf too, till I read about himmies. My girl was found as a stray when she was around 2-3 years old, and she passed away last year at 10 years old, but she had some health problems. She was too old per the vets to get her spayed when I found her, so she may have had cancer, but I'm not sure. Here's a link to my girl's web page, feel free to check it out.

Actaly, I'v seen lots of picktures of netherland dwarfs and she was (she passed away on the ninth) deffinitaly one of those. They also can come in that type of coloring. She was only two pounds. Thanx for sharing a pic of your bunny though. She was very cute! I'm so glad she didn't have to spend her life as a stray.

i had two, that lived in a penthouse  and they lived for 12 years and the other followed about a year later at about 13.
they were best mates
