tetra have informed me they will give me a new filter if i send my old one back with proof of purchase. how ever it was 2 years ago now and i can't prove this. but they are under guarantee for 3 years and i was wondering have they been out that long

Been out just over 3 years, so you may need to prove the purchase date. Can you get in touch with the place of purchase and get them to verify the purchase date for you?

it was 2 years ago so i think I will have some job getting it. tetra tec have already sent me an adaptor unit i just needed a new propeller and a new base. so ive managed to fix it all after playing around a bit

if you have a good relationship with your local fish shop im sure they will give you proof of purchase i know my shop would

I would expect that if you have got replacements from them before, they will have recorded your proof of purchase last time... Mebe mention it to them and then they can check their system...

T1KARMANN, I can do one better than getting a good relationship with my LFS, I work in it. In practice with the way the returns process works, I could probibly get away with sending off a 5year old filter for repairs under a 1 year warrently scheme assuming there have been no changes made to the filter model during that time and assuming I could get my boss to play along. Getting a new filter would probibly be easy for LFS staff that get on with their managers/shop-owner bosses .....
