Well i was on here on Wednesday asking about Amano Shrimp, i picked up 1 on Thursday and last night i noticed he had shed his skin, i thought it was his body at first until he came running across the front, so how often do they shed?

It depends on the age/size of the shrimp, TBH. They moult a lot when they're still small and growing quickly, but then it slows down when they reach adulthood. :)

All of my shrimp are between one and two inches long and they each tend to moult every few weeks. My biggest (a glass shrimp) may wait up to a month and a half between moults. Two of my amanos though were quite young when I first bought them, and they used to moult every two weeks for a while.

Another thing I've noticed is, if a shrimp gets injured and has to regenerate lost limbs, it'll eat much more than normal, so it can moult faster.

thanks for that he is only about an inch so every few weeks then, he has been none stop eating since i got him, i tried to get him some friends but they had none left -_- but as far as i can tell he seems happy and healthy :good:

Thanks again

Lil
