How much would you expect to pay for a Sterbai Cory. Saw some for £7 each, is that expensive?

about average in my are, at work Sterbai are £6.75 and albino sterbai are £8.25, (These are tank bred fish btw)

C. sterbai used to be very highly priced when they were rare but these days you can expect to pay about the same price as any other cory. Both tank raised and wild caught still appear at the lfs. :D

in UK i see prices from £6 - £9

although saying that my local maidenhead aquatics have them £3.50 each or 3 for £9

Last time I bought some, about 4-5 months ago. They where £6.50 each or 3 for £15

Pippoodle You seem to get alot of good deals :good: Pass on some of your good luck charm this way I need some :)

Got a bargain in my LFS the other day. Spotted a lone mature C. sterbai unlabelled and unpriced in a tank and knew what it was. Asked all innocently how much and was told, "Oh there's no price, so same as the bronzies mate". £2.50, bargain. Now on the look out for some more to keep him company. He's in my cory community tank with a couple of mature Lineaus and some peppers to keep him happy for now.

My local LFS is very cheap for almost all fish - generally 1/2 of the pets at home price. Lots of tanks that aren't overstocked, they're family run and care about all the pets they sell.

Sterbai are £4.50 each, but they did me 4 for £15. Silver/Blue platys £1.35 each!

In case anyone on the Newcastle area wants to know where this great place is - it's Gosforth Pets and Aquatics just off the Wansbeck Road Metro at Fawdon/Gosforth.

If you're lucky, they'll have the Chameleons out of their reptile tanks.

They don't do live plants - that's the only downside for me.

They were scattered about in a few different tanks and not labelled at a maidhead aquatics that i visited. I picked on the most "only work here on a saturday" kid i could find but he still asked his boss and the price was £4.50 or 3 for £9 that pip mentioned above. I'm not ready for them yet...but soon!

My LFS has them in at £3.95, if you can put up with the guy who works there being sexist (Ie. not looking you in the eye, n answering your questions as though your boyfriend asked them  )

Then my LFS is very reasonably priced! But only for fish, dry products such as food and water conditioner are pretty expensive.

Hi Guys

Ive had 4 Sterbai for about 8 months in my community tank and they have started breeding but when the eggs are hatching the fry are being eaten s im planning on moving them into there own tank!

I never realised these fish were that rare

i also have limited knowledge in fish breeding or shipping as these are the first fish i have had which are breeding but if people are willing to help i would like to supply anyone if i can get it all to work properly

We used to have some sterbai... think we paid $12 each. Can't find them anywhere around here now.
