Well, my parents found out about my little rescue baby and they freaked out. :X Yes, I promised them I wouldn't get any more fish, but he is only 1/4in long and was going to die anyway. Honestly, I thought I was just giving him a comfortable death. Anyway, I have been threatened unless I "get rid" of him. He is soooo gorgeous now... his colors have darkened and his fin rot has completely healed. I'm just not sure how much I should ask for him. :dunno: I've never even come across this fish before. -_- What do you guys think would be a reasonable price?

i'd say at least 50$ probly more. I would really try to get yur parents to let u keep him. This is the first time i have ever seen one. Just hide it.

lmao @ $50, fish are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them, its a sad fact that unless you know of someone who has a interest in catfish that are uncommon in the trade you will be unlikely to get much more than a few dollars from a store trade in.
I have fish which i have paid the equivilent of $150 for but if i were to sell them back to a shop would be lucky to get $30 back.

I say keep the fish, explain to your parents that you nursed it back from the brink of death and that you dont want to give to someone who will most likely kill it.

i'm looking at a price list i got someone on ebay to send me and they have them at £3 for a 4cm fish.

Yep I saw a whole thank of them just yesteday at a shop here in London - all babies so cute - probably not all that much bigger than yours. Very cute indeed B) they were a few pounds each - so about $4.00
Hope yours does well :)

I see them regularly on wholesale availability lists for a dollar or a bit more. We usually sell them for $1.99 or so, when we get them in for the store. Hope that helps!

That's the sad truth... :-( I have no idea if/where there are any catfish people in my area who would even be interested in him. I REALLY do not want to give him to a petstore who is just going to kill him off because they don't take care of him and provide for his special needs.

well as he is only a small fishie and doesn't grow very big - and a good community fish - you should really keep him. No harm in that.

u guys are lucky. I have never even seen one around here. The most exotic fish available is a Mystus Luecophasis

Well, I just told my parents that to make up for this new fish I'm going to take a HUGE group of guppies and mollies from my tank and sell them to the LFS. Thankfully they are okay with that. *whew* So he gets to stay after all!!! :D

what is a hara jerdoni? any pics?

I started a thread a while back about him... it has several pictures of him in it. I *think* it is one page back on the list of threads. He is a moth catfish and is teeeeensy tiny. He's such a sweet baby. Doing great in the community tank I added him to. Now I'm just trying to see if I can get any friends for him. :/

Hmmm, let's see. If you must get rid of him, I could pay you for shipping :D OR you could place an ad on Aquabid.com and have him listed as "Pick Up" only. You could boast about how rare they are...should drive up the bids.
