I have been feeding my fish very small amounts, 4/5 times a day.Is this ok ? I find if I give them more less often, most of it ends up sinking to the bottom. It says on the tin ,' no more than they can eat in 2 minutes ' but after 2 minutes lots have already sunk.

The amount that sinks should also be calculated in your 2 minute estimate..... Rearing fry is ok with small amounts 4/5 times a day, but a mature tank will be ok with 1 daily feeding at the same time every day.

Depends on what type of fish really, if they are predators then usually only feed them 2-3 times a week, if they are small like live bearers then twice a day would be ample.

Mikky, once a day is enough for all but the smallest fry. The advice on the tin is also correct, only feed what will be eaten in a couple of minutes. I give mine 3 or 4 minutes to eat it all but do not feed enough for any to fall to the bottom unless you have some catfish on the bottom that need feeding. If you do, you can estimate what part of the total needs to go to the bottom for them to get enough to eat. If you are using a food that sinks easily, take your pinch of food and put a bit of it in every 30 seconds or so and let the fish keep up with you. As soon as they don't eat everything you put in with that bit of a pinch, it's time to stop and remember how much you fed for next time.

Thats what i do oldman,i take about 2 mins feeding them but feed them about 3 times in that period.... not alot sinks to the bottom then
