Im wondering how much air should be in the tank. My skimmer puts a lot of the tiny bubbles into the water and i also have a powerhead that is completly submurged but somhow creates some more tiny bubbles. I can hook an airline up to the powerhead and create lots of big bubbles...what should i do?

tiny air bubbles can get annoying. If you can put a sponge over the output of the skimmer that can greatly reduce your air bubbles. The powerhead is probably pulling in small air bubbles from the skimmer and then spitting them out in larger more visible bubbles.

Some skimmers spit bubbles for awile when first starting up, I have seen this last several days. It could also be (depending on the skimmer) that a seal has gone bad or is pinched allowing too much air to enter. Check all fittings and make sure they are tight, but not to tight. As far as the power head goes, I would agree with SM, try tipping it up-side-down wile keeping it submerged, this will cause any air inside to release.

OK the skimmer is actually a skimmer/filter in one...Its called a Skelter..Its a peice of crap if u ask me but it does work. The amount of bubbles that gets put in the water is alot because its a filter too and it uses an airline from a air pump into the water inlet tube..the bubble get sucked into the impeller with the water and gets directed into 2 directions 1 big jet into the main filter chamber just like a reg. hang on filter and another jet into a cylinder that is vented at the bottom to let the excess extreamly oxogenated water out into the main filter chamber. Then through foam and a carbon filter and into the tank. I though that the foam and the filter would cut out alot of bubbles but once they get saturated in bubbles they all come into the tank, Making thousands and thousands of tiny tiny bubbles. So i dont think that there is a whole lot i can do about those bubbles till i get a better skimmer. My powerhead though is a hagen 602, I have one of those quick filters on the bottom. This powerhead is and has been completly submurged for weeks and it usually has some smaller bubbles than what the filter/skimmer puts out but every maybe hour or two it will make this GIANT ploom of bubbles, It look totally awsome and makes it across the whole tank..I can hook a air vent line with a valve onto it but it makes kinda big bubbles. But anyway sorry for rambaling on and on. My question now is do you need to add any air to a marine tank? If so how much?

Nope, dont need to add air. Just good water flow will do the trick. I have had a skilter in the past and gave the piece of **** away. It was doing the same thing yours is doing. Via-Aqua makes a much better one, but cost 3 times as much.
