Hey guys, I was wondering how mahy GSP's I could have in my 30 gallon. I really would like three. And I know when they get full grown they'll be too big for just that one tank so I'll get another 30 gallon to house 1, so i will be in a 30 gallon, the other 2 will be in the 30 gallon tank. The ones at my lfs usually are about 3-3 1/2 inches long. I have 2 in my 30 gallon at present. Thanks,
Ron

I think that will depend on their personalities...if you have 2 living in peace in a 30 gal now I wouldn't mess with it, usually one in a 30 gal is the suggested limit because of their aggressivness (remember they can live a long time and tend to get meaner as they age). They will probably attack the third and then pick on each other after he was gone. If you do decide to add a 3rd I would suggest removing the first 2 and redecorating, add the new one then an hour or so later put the other 2 back into the tank. That should cut down on territory disputes.

Thanks Pack! Yes, last time when I added my second one, the second one was the fish to attack the 1st one. I guess you never know with puffers!! LOL I'l try what you said, and if it doesn't work out right away, I'll have to take the 3rd one back to the lfs. The reason why I want another is 1, to save the poor puffers that are stuck in their own little plastic commpartment in the huge tanks!! 2, because I'm addicted to them!

I feel the same way everytime I see some poor little puffer starving in the lfs....but the wife says no more tanks or I'll be living in one   ...still working on her, I just rescued 2 sick little puffers and have them in QT for the time being, if they survive I will give them names and post a photo journal on their recovery....and of course they will need a new tank

LOL....yes...usually its the twitchy finger, thats what happens when i type lightning spped with my huge finger tips!! Anyways, yes i totally understand how it is to see a poor lil puffer at the gross lfs! Tomorrow I'm going to the lfs with 30 bucks in my wallet and seeing how I can spend it all!!!
