I have a 15G (uk) tank currently housing a male betta and 3 platies.

I have no bottom feeders and I've been considering getting some Ottos for in there. Trimar have ottos at £5 for 5, would 5 be too large a number for this tank or do you think I'd be ok?

No problem! Just monitor the tank and make sure the ammonia and nitrites stay at safe levels. Also, be warned that otos can be very sensitive, and may not acclimate very well.

P.T.

yea, otocinclus's are great. I love them the best out of all the algea eaters. That is a good price, and no it's not too many for your tank-they are a shoaling fish.

I am just learning about catfish plecs etc and have found out that they pooo alot and I mean alot !! might what to take that into account, and ottos diet needs to be supplemented with blanched zucchini or cucumber or lettuce

5 for £5???

Where is this Trimar place?

Only place I've seen Otos is in Shirley Aquatics in Birmingham where they were £8 each!!!!!!!

that's an outragous ripoff. They are constantly in stock in all my lfs for £1.99!!

bunji & cluttery - they don't sell them anywhere near me so its an online site (http://www.tropicalfish.org.uk/tropical.htm is their stock list) - its £5 for 5 PLUS £10 p+p - which I'm willing to pay since I've wanted ottos since day 1.

bronzewolf - I'm well aware of the muck some catfish can cause, I've got three clown plecos in my bigger tank
