How Many Neons?

Hi guys, i have recently planted my 60litre, and think i want to go with neons, the only other i think i will have in there is a bn plec-maybe some cherry shrimp...

how big a shoal should i be going for, if its pretty much them(bar the bn)?

I'd say anything more than 6 as they are a schooling fish so for a 16gal tank i'd say something like this if you only want them and a bn.

10 X neons.
1 X bn.

If you want neons, bn and cherry shrimp i'd say you could still get away with this.

10 X neons.
1 X bn.
2-5 X cherry shrimp.

I'd wait for other people to respond but i think thats quite a good stock for 16gal (60 litre). Don't add them all at once as this could cause an ammonia spike and be fatal to the fish.

You'd be fine with 15-20 along with the BN and shrimp, they're not heavy waste producers.

cheers guys, am i right in thinking that fish like neons shoal better when there is a slightly larger fish in the tank- ie.. maybe, a pair of bolivian rams, or other dwarf cichlid?

ps. i know that probably scuppers all just what i have said in the first post.. sorry

ok, im gonna just go with neons, and then see if i want anything else after that.

Many die though dont they? i rememeber, last time i brought some, 11 died within days, but then again, that was my early days when i knew nothing and attempted putting ocean rock in with neons
