got a 5 gal that has been set up for 2 days but next monday i am going to get a baby betta from maiden head aquatics but i have a 5 gal and they are only about 3 cms should i get 2 girls or a boy and a girl or would the boy fight with the girls?

i need answers people lol ;)

You definately cannot put a male and a female together because they will fight. I would recommend a 10 gallon with 4 or 6 girls to spread out the aggression. The girls will most likely fight in the 5 gallon. If you must have the 5 gallon I would recommend one betta whether it's male or female.

Edited for spelling :*)

I agree. I tried 2 girls in a 5 gallon tank - that is never a good idea. One will inevitably pick on the other. You should, as has already been said, have 4 or more. I upgraded them all to a 10G tank and now have 6.

I would agree that you shoudl go with one in a 5G tank, whether it be male or female.
:)

ok thnx for being honnest and i will go with your idea and have either a male or female which ever catches my eye

i have a 5.5 gallon, and i had bought 3 females for it. they got along fine, one female chased the other 2, then i found out that the big female was actually a male, and they spawned. i neber had any agression problems with them tho, they were fun fish

You could probably give 3 girls a try in that tank, however I think that unless you got really lucky and wound up with all really passive little gals you could be asking for trouble and should be ready to pull one of them out. I really noticed the aggression decrease when I went from 4 girls to 5, and then it's almost nonexistant now that there are 6. Except when it's "egg time" for Cloey or Millie. Then all bets are off.

Although there are females that can get along in groups of two or three, if you don't have a back-up plan (as in another tank or two, depeding if its 2 or 3 girls) then I'd advice playing it safe.
