Just installed a co2 red sea pressurized system, 55 gallon tank, well planted....how many bubbles per second should I start with.....right now I'm at 1-2 per second.
A question with no answer. The problem is that the bubble size is not consistent from system to system and probably not within systems. The bubble counter is a reference for increasing or decreasing the CO2 flow to your tank. You need to establish a measurement of the CO2 PPM in your tank. The simplest is a "drop checker". (Don't ask about the name.) There are a number on the market. Google drop checker. Your goal is to get to a ppm between 25 and 30. Some worthwhile reads follow. The last link describes how to prepare a 4kH reference solution for a drop checker. (permanent CO2 test). The beauty of the reference solution is accuracy. The commercial drop checkers use tank water for a reference fluid. This is an unknown kH and therefore the colour change from the reagent is just not likely to be very accurate. The process is straight forward and inexpensive, bottle of distilled water and some baking soda.
