How Many Can I Get Rid Of?

I've currently got 12 tetras in my 10G tank (yes i know 2 over stocked) and after just replanting my tank i feel like a siamese would go brilliant in there.

2 questions: will a siamese fighter get on with cardinals? and how many should i put in another tank to allow for a good shoal and the siamese?

It might or might not work. Depends on individual fish.

A shoal requires at least 6.

Are you trying to say you have/might be able to have another tank? If that is so, I would leave the 12 together, then set-up the other tank around the Betta.
