Hello everybody, just a quick question to ask how many Bristlenose Plecs I could keep in my 125L long tank. (Juwel Rio 125). I think atm I have 5, 2 larger and 3 smaller ones. I'd really like to get a couple of Albino/normal longfin bristlenoses.

Should I go for more females than males?

EDIT: I've pretty much worked it out to be:

3 Females (one large, one small-medium and a small orange)
2 Males (one large one smaller)

Personally in a 125L 5 B/N plecs is enough it already makes you aquarium over half stocked so you may want to save room for other fish. I only have 2 B/N in my 110L and they keep the place spotless

They sure do poop alot. I have 3 in a 160Litre tank and am thinking of getting shot of 1. I have loads of fry getting to about an inch long that I know I'll have to sell to the LFS soon.

They keep stuff nice and clean but the payoff is - a whole load of poop in the tank that needs filtering. Treed carefully!

I have little else in the tank, 2 Angels (breeding pair) and 2 Rainbowfish. I am using the standard Juwel filter, and am also using an additional internal Fluval 2 filter.

Well if you're angels are spawning chances are your going to loose a lot of eggs from the B/N eating them  . But with those fish you're pretty well stocked defiantly wouldn't advise more plecos. What type of rainbowfish do you have? they usually do better with about 5 so depending on what you have you could squeeze 3 more in.

I'm trying to get various breeding fish in my tank. I originally had more but sold some others in order for the babies (which ever come first) to survive.

What other fish that breed easily would be suitable for my tank?

Personally you have to many as it is. The internal filters you have will struggle to cope with bioload as they get bigger, i personally would advise you remove one of the males and one of the females and add one longfin female to the tank if that's what you want.

Having 4 in the tank with only one male is going to be far better aggression wise and bioload wise in the long run and you have all the species you want at the same time.

I would also opt in looking for an external filter aswell, i still think even dropping down to 4 BN's when they get older will make the filters you currently have struggle.
