I bought a 37 gallon tall tank from petsmart a few months ago. And I finally decided to look into angelfish. So how many? I have heard 10 gallons pet full grown angelfish? And also are they hard to care for?

I've heard that they need 10 gal per Angelfish and the tank should be at least 18" tall. You could probably get 3 or 4 in a 37 gal. I've had no problems with my Angelfish, but I did buy them when they were around 2 - 3" long. I tried smaller ones before with no luck. They shouldn't be too difficult to keep.

If I had a 37 hex, I would get 6 juvie (SMALL!) angelfish and let them pair off naturally. When I got a pair formed, I would re-home/return the other 4 and let the pair be the centerpiece of the tank.

I wouldn't do more than 2 in a 37 anyway... If you have 3 and a pair forms, they could easily harass the lone angel to death. With 4 and being in a taller tank, there's not as much lateral room for them to stake out territories.
