Hey, I'm so glad he wasn't hurt worse. He's a lovely looking dog, please give him a pat and a dog biscuit from me!
These things do happen though, my mother and I were taking our dog for a walk in Spain some years ago, my Mum went back to turn the car around and the dog thought she was being left and ran back - my Mum ended up running over her foot.... So the dog is squealing and hopping about, my Ma is having hysterics going "I've killed the dog I've killed the dog" and I'm only 14 and can't drive..... we take her to a vet in our village and he goes 'working dog?' we say 'no' and he says 'I shoot and you buy good one?' - he was mostly used to dealing with cows and horses and really didn't see the point of a dog that 'didn't do anything'. We eventually found a vet in the nearest city who was used to pet dogs and after a couple weeks in plaster she was fine! We did feel really bad for ages though.... we ran over our own dog....
So don't blame yourself, give yourself a biscuit from me too!
