How long?

hi there. I have added my live rock a couple of days ago and i think all is in order! I have done a PH test which read 8.3 is that ok?? I have also tested for nitrates in the water and that came as 0 is that correct also?? How long is it before i introduce my first fish. My first will be a damsel as i have heard from a guy in the lfs that they are quite hardy?

Hi there mate, hows it going

You will need to test you Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite levels only when these are either 0 or extremelly close can you think about adding fish, corals I personally would give the tank 1 - 2 month to settle

I wouldnt be to keen on adding Damsels as they CAN become very terretorial, I'd say you'd be better with either Percs or maybe Bangii Cardinal fish, both hardy begginer fish, but remeber you will also need to add a clean up crew before this, Snails, Crabs etc.

I would agree, the damsels can not only be territorial, but REALLY hard to catch once they get big and mean and have to be removed. I would go ahead and do a goby of some kind, wouldn't necesarrily get a clown fish (in my opinion) when they get bigger they can get pretty territorial as well, after all clownfish are a type of Damselfish just like "damsels".

HI....just a friendly note...do NOT add corals until your tank matures. After your tank cycles it is going to go thru some algae blooms. If you add corals too early, your wallet will not like you. Trust me...go slow. SH

thanks i will just wait for a while before getting any corals newayz as i want to concentrate on getting the clean-up crew in! should i get them in as soon as levels in the are okk?? Even though there is nothing for them to clean??

You can wait a little bit for algae to show..or..you can add them in groups so they don't starve. SH

i have a chance to get some of my clean up crew today maybe a few snails or hermits?? would i be wise to as my parameters seem fine??
