Hi EveryBody :p

I was wondering if someone could help me, when doing a water change how long should i leave the new water with the dechlorinator.......(something like that anyway) in it b4 adding it to the tank

:D
Thank you in advance

As long as it's the right temp to the tank I just stir declorinator in then start adding to the tank.

I wonder if that is where I am going wrong.... I add the water to the tank and then immediatly add the declorinator to the tank.... Since I have to add several gallon jugs in most cases to my tank it was easier to do it that way than to try to figure out how much to use for a single gallong....

Any thoughts?

If you have to add several gallons of water into your tank then I would do the same as you. You really dont have a choice. Just make sure that you do it immediatly abd see if there are any changes. I reason that I say this is because I have to do the same thing and i havent had any problems.

I add dechlorinator right b4 you add new water. If you have no chlorine in the tank from the beginning, the liquid wont do anything until chlorine is introduced

I refill my tank with a hose, so I put the dechlorinator in the tank and then refill the tank. Most dechlor bottles say that if you put the dechlor directly into the tank you should treat for the entire volume of the tank instead of just how much you're refilling. to be honest though, I always put enough in to treat the water I'm refilling and the fish are perfectly healthy. Hi...I concur with Jason 5. I use a Python for water changes. I add the dechlorinator first, wait a brief moment or two , then do my water change. I have not lost any fish and, in fact, they are much more active and 'happy' after the change. SH
