How Long To Go?

I was wondering if someone could tell me approx how long my guppy has left before she gives birth. It seems as though she hs been pregnant for ages now!

Hey Emma,

She look like she aint got long left.

Look out for signs of her hiding away
being very unsocial
hanging around the heater or internal filter if you have one.
dwelling near the bottom (not swimming, being static)

She spent the majority of today and yesterday right at the bottom near the sand and has been hiding in the corner near the heater so i guess it will be very soon? Should i move her to the hatchery or leave her be, i dont want to cause her any stress but dont want all the fry eaten. x

Do you have a breeding trap?

If so trap her for the night, she may drop tonight, you could also try upping the temp 2 degrees to help her on.

Yes i have a breeding trap ill transfer her there now as im off to bed shortly and increase the temp slightly.

As soon as you trap her, be sure to out the lights and give her a tiny bit of food, this will minimze the stress on her

Ive just moved her and on closer inspection it looks like i can see the frys eyes! x

Ive fed her and turned the lights out also.

If you can see little black dots close to her anal fin, she is very close to the drop

finger crossed it will be tonight.

ps, only keep her in there for 2 days max at a time.

Yeah i can see little black dots, thats what i was refering to when i mentioned being able to see eyes. Im excited, how sad lol x

Its not sad lol, i still get excited when my fish are pregnant lol

I came down this morning to find no guppy and no fry in the breeding trap but she was swimming round with the other fish so i assume she jumped out!
Shes still heavily pregnant and i dont think gave birth to any last night. Ive moved her back into the trap for now. She seems quite quiet, im hoping she gives birth shortly.

lol, u do get some that jump out, i usually place summat over the trap so they cant jump out.

I wasnt expecting her to do that but ive put the lid on.

Well i just had a look at her and noticed hiding further back in the aquarium was a tiny guppy fry!! Id checked there earlier and there was nothing and as the guppy isnt in labour yet i inspected my other 3 pregnant guppies and one, although quite a lot smaller and i didnt think was due yet, had a lump near her anal fin and out popped a fry!! So ive transfered her to a breeding trap as well and her 2 lil fry. OMG its so exciting all these births xx
