Hi folks, how long do I acclimatise my new starfish and sea urchin ?

Depends on how long you have and what method you use. the recomended way is with a drip line and air valve. Float the bag(s) for 20 mins, then empty them into a bucket. Start a syphen through the airline into the bucket and use the valve to adjust the flow to 2 drops per second. Leave it to stew for 2 hours them move them to the tank. The starfish must remain submerged at all times, so use a cup for the transfer. The urchin must not be touched. You will need to have the needles removed at the doctors if you do touch it...

All the best

Well dont have a drip line thingy so have been adding drops of water manually ! will that be OK ?

Adding the drips manually will take an absolute age because you tend to have many 1 drop every few seconds then gradually speed it up over a course of maybe 3 hours.
I would strongly suggest getting some air line tubing to do this jib then just get gravity to do the drips. This tubing will only cost a couple of quid :good:

mmmm I have been adding 5 drops every 5 minutes or so for the last 2 hours ...
will it be ok to add to the tank now ?

Good specimins will take that shock OK, but it wouldn't be considered idal. This said, there is only some things I bother to drip acclimate...

A good thing to do is keep testing the ph and s.g of the water in the bag against your tank water when they match you are ready to add your new inhabitants(a digital ph meter is good for this and they're quite cheap on ebay).
