Hi everyone

I recently inherited a very badly injured rainbow shark from a friend, he's in my 32 gallon tank. He was in a really bad way when I got him, several open wounds, his dorsal fin was almost completely gone, in fact when I first put him in my tank he just floated, I thought he was a gonner. I've been treating him with melafix for 10 days and he's improved amazingly, his wounds have almost completley healed and his fin is growing back, he's swimming and eating well and seems vey happy. I did a 25% water change after the 1st week of treatment as per melafix instructions, but I think it's going to take a couple more weeks to completely sort him out. Is it safe to treat the water for this long? Also should I keep doing the 25% water change every week during the treatment?

I've never had to treat any of my fish for more than about a week, and I don't want to effect any of my other fish, so any advice would be great.

Thanks!

MelaFix is a all natural Med, on the bottle it should tell you that u cant overdose your tank with it, i have been using it for 3 weeks treating my sick discus, i have been doubling the amount that is required and my fish now look very healthy, so dont worry i dont think u can overdose with melafix! :good:

Thanks very much, you've set my mind at rest. I was so chuffed that he's healing I didn't want to make him suddenly worse by overdosing!!

yeah cool mate, just make sure that you keep up with water changes, and dont worry if your tank produces air like bubbles at the top of your tank water as this is just the Melafix working in action :good:

peace out:)
