This is my planned stocking for my Jewel Vision 260

Tell me what you think..

1 x Red Spotted Severum
1 x Firemouth or Ellioti
1 x Female Pink Convict (already have her)
1 x Red Tail Black Shark
10 x Tiger Barbs
2 x Bristlenose Plecs
2 x Raphael Cats (already have)

also should i get a RTBS or a Rainbow shark?

Which Raph's are they? spotted or striped? Stocking seems good to me, but i wouldn't go for the rtbs. I have a ruby and i like it better for my setup than a rtbs as it is less aggresive and doesn't get as big.

They are striped Raphs, ones about 5" then other about 3" had them for a while, seem to be doing good even tho i don't feed them directly, they must be gettign food from somewhere lol

Is a Ruby Shark the same as a Rainbow shark? Epalzeorhynchos frenatum?

i personally dont think the tank is big enough for them all especially when adult size. im guessing so correct me if im wrong that your tank is about 4ft  and thats a lot of fish for a 4ft tank.....

maybe drop the convict and firemouth and it may be ok.

I never see my striped and spotted raphs. They were the same size when i added the striped, but the spotted is now bigger. I also can't feed them directly as i never see them to feed them!

Considering you already have the convict, wouldn't it be better to lose the sev?

Yeh same problem with the Raphs :p, i usually see there butts hanging out of rocks :p

I really want the Sev most, but kinda attached to my female Con, had her for a long time, shes a promiscuous little thing with other fish lol.

For me, I'd want to lose a bit of biomass from that stock, if looking to grow till adulthood. If it were me, I'd lose the shark and one of the bristlenoses, and poss the convict. But it sounds like you're close

I went to the lfs and i bought the following..

1 x Short bodied Super Red spotted Severum (really really red)
1 x Rainbow/Ruby Shark
1 x L001 white Dotty Pleco (apparently gets no bigger than 8")
5 x Tiger Barbs

My female Convict is going straight after the barbs and Shark tho...i got a feeling they wont be here by morning, i didnt think she would go after them because shes well socialised (i have had her for a longggg time)

The photo actually makes it look more orange than it looks in real life, its more of a cherry colour in real life

if it is an L001 then be prepared for a 12 inch fish in time and lots of cleaning

convicts are well known for their aggression and it doesnt suprise me to hear that she is going for the new fish..... it might settle in time but it wont help the new fish settle in very well hence the reason i suggested to take the convict out. they are not really a com fish unless its a semi aggressive tank

She's been in community's over the 3 years i have had her, I just never mixed her with things like barbs, just other Cichlid's and Cat fish, South's, Central's and African's (Yellow Labs and Blue haps)and she's always been fine...she seems to be leaving the barbs alone now.

12" Plec is exactly what i need, i just got rid of my 14" Gibbi which was still growing because it was out growing my tank.

My tank is situated in a perfect shaped alcove next to my patio doors/windows so it gets a crazy amount of direct sunlight and every time i have tried to go with out a Plec, the tank gets really green, really fast, however my Gibbi used to keep the tank clean and save me scraping every day so it was worth the mess.

I read that L001 are wood eaters so i put in a few pieces of bog wood for it.

Anyway what do you think of 'pip' my new super red?

I have had a few Red Spotted's over the last 10 years and they have never been as red as this guy.

Hi,

The new fish and set-up sounds good, did you buy them from Maidenhead Aquatics?

Good Luck.

Thanks Darren.

2 of my Tiger Barbs where eaten during the night, glad i only bought 5, won't be getting any more :(
