How Is This For Stocking?

I have a 30 Gallon tank that i am hoping to convert to marine!!

could i possibly have these fish?

2x clownfish
1x royal gramma
1x bi-colour blenny
1x blue damselfish
1x cardinal

and some CUC
and maybe a starfish ?? (havent read about these yet)

and then corals.

possibly overstocked..

You can't really have the clowns and a damsel - they are likely to fight when mature

So, if you take the damsel out of the equation you should be ok as long as you go nice and slow

most dites list them as peaceful but they are not. They may be ok as small juvies but adults are PITA.
Coral beauty is a nice fish, may nip corals though

when i have the tank ready, will i need to put all the live rock in at the same time? or can i add a few kilos each week.

i get £30 a week, i dont have a job so i can do it bit by bit.

If it were me, I'd do it all in one after saving for a while, but it would be possible to do it that way, just so long as you add some form of ammonia source to feed the rock while you are establishing the required ammount and saving for the first fish

this is the likely costs:

£150 live rock
£50 powerheads
£50 skimmer
not pricing fish or corals yet

oh forgot substrate.. how much is coral sand? and where can i get it, i havent seen it in my LFS before.

You might want to price up some base rock also... With just about 15kg in a 30g, it will look like a rather weedy rock pile IME, so if your on a budget, you want to bulk out with nice cheap bace rock, or use 2nd hand stuff from ebay, aquarists classifides e.t.c...

What skimmer are you looking at? Also, are you buying a new or 2nd hand one?

Have you thought about a Flame Angel instead of a Coral Beauty? theres not a big price difference between the 2 around here although might be diffrent elsewhere. (FA in watermarque is £66,CB in watermarque is £55).

Coral beauty is about £30 for a large one in my LFS, they had some small ones in for £28
Flames are about £50 though

what is better about a flame angel? o.o

i havent considered them because i havent seen one in my area. i have seen a coral beauty though, and quite liked it
i do like the flame angel, i did think about that a week or so ago.

oh and, about the rock.. i cant imagine what 15KG of rock will look like.
there was some live rock on ebay for £6.99 per kilo, at my LFS its £10.. big difference. im going to try and get it cheaper though.

Flame angels seem to be harder to come by in my area and they are really brighly coloured so quite sought after.

I reckon you need probably 20K or rock total to fill a 30. Thats what i have now, doesnt have to all be LR though. Aim for 15k live and then if you wish add 5 base rock


V2400 is a decent skimmer, can pick one up on ebay for <£40
