Hey, has anyone got any comments on how far along my fishless cycle is

Ammonia 1.2 Nitrite 4.00+ Nitrate 100+ Ph 6.50

Any suggestions on what to do next? I stopped adding ammonia about a week ago, think I added too much at start. Do I do a water change to reduce Nitrate cos it really high.

I am so happy though cos It means I have nitrifying bacteria now, turning nitrite to nitrate.

I have plants too so I dunno whether to leave the water as the nitrate is good for them, or is it too much?

On weekend I'm gona have a change of the tank layout. I've bought some bogwood but because my tank is a 15G Hex the surface area is small. Due to this I am gona take the big rock I have out, break it into a smaller bit and add the bogwood. The main reason I am adding wood is that my Ph is high so I have had to use a buffer to bring it down. By using bogwood I have told it can help naturally reduce the Ph.

Also, it is inevitable I will have to move some plants,is this okay?

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanx

Looks like it is going okay. Once those nitrites start dropping it should happen quite quickly. Remember that once the nitrites and ammonia do fall to zero, and the tank has therefore cycled, to start adding daily ammonia again until 24 hours before you add the fish. This will feed the bacteria that have grown during the cycle and stop them dying off again (i.e. uncycling the tank).

Don't do any water changes now. Leave it until the tank has cycled.

I'm no plant expert, but moving them is okay I guess so long as you don't damage the roots.

I personally wouldn't add or take away anything from the tank because the plants should do everything for. There going to create biological waste for the bacteria to feed off of, and then they will help to reduce the Nitrate and Nitrite levels. Usually what I suggest to people is to leave the tank with filter, heater, and ornaments running for one week. Then add 2-3 fish (the hardier the better), then each week add another 2-3 fish until you've reached you max capacity.
