How Important Are Fans In The Hoods Of River Reef Tanks?

Just got my new tank a river reef 94l

set it up and happy with it but it makes a racket. I;ve set it up in the living room but the fan noise is winding my mrs up.

are they necessary?

and don;t get me started on the air pump for the skimmer lol

im guessing the fan is to help disperse the heat from the lights? if so maybe you could try a luminaire?

what fans r they i have seen some that r the same as computer fans u can ones like i have in my computer they dont make hardly make a sound

Yip these fans are essential to get the most out of your bulbs I believe they are standard PC fans first I would check to see if they have any salt creep if not just replace them with one of the silent PC fans

Oooh also do you know how old the bulbs are in the new tank ?

the lad said they were 3 months old

can you check how efficient they are or is it just a caseof changing at every 6 or so months?

6 - 9 months normaly

just received replacemnt fans from interpet who are so efficient with customer care

5 day turnaround from my email to receipt of fans and repklacing the noisy one has done trick!!!
