I am having a problem with hair algae in my 2.5gal betta tank. I have a pressurized CO2 unit hooked up to my 20 gal planted tank. I have been thinking of getting a CO2 splitter and hooking up the betta's tank to the same unit. The only problem I am having is the CO2 hose would have to run from the CO2 tank to the betta's tank which is a distance of about 8ft. Can you run a CO2 line is far?

Thanks,

I don't think this would be a problem Makaila, my own CO2 lines run about 5-6 feet with no problems.

Edit, Mikaila I should add, provided the CO2 line IS CO2 line and not regular airline hosing then I don't think distance within reason will matter.

Use Co2 proof Tubing, Dont you Regular Silicon Tubing from the LFS They will leak about 6% every feet

This is what I'm thinking of getting for tubing. I was also looking for splitters similar to this one here, will this work with my system(Red Sea Pro deluxe system)?

This Co2 splitter is compatible with Electronic Co2 regulators ONLY

I'm not sure if this is the case if you connect it to the needle valve instead, but caution might be needed. Only other problem is you'd not be able to control the pressure to both tanks independantly so would probably be overdosing one or under dosing the other. That is of course unless you had a second needle valve inline with the smaller tank.

Could be complicated but it might work? Anyone more experienced with pressurised CO2 want to step in here?

That splitter has a separate needle valve on each outlet, so it will be possible to control CO2 to each tank individually. It`s what I do on my 60l and 26l, but I just use a simple plastic T piece with a separate in line needle valve to each tank.

Dave.

Thanks Dave Spencer, I will probably do the same thing, it seems easier and cheaper that way. Also can anyone recommend a good bubble counter for the betta tank, because I don't like the red sea one that is hooked up to my other tank.
