I should note that in fish that aren't mature, what looks like a female may sometimes develop into a male. If you're trying to keep the fish from mating, don't jump the gun and watch your fish. It won't happen instantly. You'll see the anal fin look more and more male before it is able to breed, so just keep an eye out. The presence of a mature male will also slow the development of other males, so just because they are adult in size, doesn't necessarily mean the maleness will be apparent.
