I took in an 8in plec, unknown species , 3 weeks ago and had to put it in with small (3-15cm) goldfish as I had no tank space elsewhere. I was told it eats small algae wafers. I've been feeding these daily sometimes with extra veg pellets or fresh veg. I've never seen the plec eat or show any interest in food wafers at any time of day. It doesn't eat the courgettes and potato either. Worried the greedy goldfish tankmates may be eating all its food as well as their own, They certainly love the veg!

How and what should I handfeed the plec to make sure it's getting enugh food for its size? It's quite tame and comes up to the front of the tank and will let me pick it up without too many struggles.

the plec wont eat if he is in coldwater he needs to be in a min 22c heated tank

Plec's are nocturnal. Sounds like it may be a common or sailfin pleco (from the size) these are nocturnal. Feed him at night when the lights are out.
