My boyfriend's brother's tank has been set up for 3 months and now he has noticed the powder blue tang is covered in tiny white spots! We tried too get treatment today made by Kent Marine, but was told it was not suitable as he has star fish? Can any one recommend what too do? Thanks

the reason it would not of been suitable is because most efective ways of getting rid of ich are through using medicine with copper in. Copper is lethal to all invertabrates adn will kill them so that means all the thing on the live rock wil dies to. Ive heard of a product called myaxin (not too sure on the name) but the main thing with medication is that make sure it says either invert safe or reef friendly. Other methods include using a UV steriliser , feeding garlic (not exactly concrete evidence that it works) and mainly keeping the victim (s) well fed so they can fight of the ich. Another thing that can be done is an increase in temperature , higher the SG and freshwater dips. Hope that helps a tiny bit

anything else look infected??? if your gonna have tangs... well a lot of people (myself include) believe a uv sterilizer is a must, tangs 99% of the time once they stress out will show ich... some believe they live with it all there lives.
you don't need 2 run it 24/7 a lot do, but its a great backup tool that can be turned on when something new is added 2 a tank. I think the rule more or less is run it 3 weeks when anything new is added or if anything else looks sick... It may not help the infected fish from the first round will ich, but will probably provent it from a second round with the ich.
