i have a pregnant otocinclus catfish in my community tank and i don't know how to look after the fry or how to stop the other fish from eating the fry which i hope should appear soon.
the fish that i also have are:
approx. 30 tetras(cardinals, serpaes, and rummy noses)
four kribs(1 breeding pair)
5 sae
four mollies
5 hatchets
6 ottos

will any of these eat the fry, and how will i look after the fry?
help please!

Why do so many people think fish get "pregnant". Only fish that kind of gets knocked up are livebeares like guppies and mollys. Then they are not pregnant. Mammlas get pregnant. Fish have eggs. Most lay them some carry the eggs inside till they hatch that's what guppies do.

So your fish is not pregnant. Ottos Are very hard to breed I don't even think it has been done well since most ottos are still wild caught. If your fish is fat you have a problem. Post a photo.

People have had them breed in aquariums but it is rare and they don't seem to have many eggs.

ill add a pic of my otto

egg laying fish do get a bit more plump when they are ready to spawn. BUT nothing like how big a pregnant women get. in general most Female fish are a bit more round then the males.

I would love to see what your little fish looks like.

How long have you had them?

:( I'm sorry but that does not look good. To me it looks ilke Dropsy. When they have eggs They get plump not huge.

Sorry.

Whats your water like Ammonia and nitrites?

they're all good. and all of my other ottos are fine. what can i do!!!

Not much you can do if it is dropsy. But you could try feeding a pea they helps if he is just backed up. You should seperate the sick one. Keep up with your water changes to keep the others from getting sick.
